Staff Performance Evaluation
Overview
Performance evaluation is a beneficial process, which provides feedback to staff members about job effectiveness and career guidance. The performance review is intended to be a fair and balanced assessment of an employee's performance. To assist supervisors and department heads in conducting performance reviews, the Tennessee Agricultural Experiment Station (TAES) and the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) has introduced a new performance evaluation form.
New Form and Instructions
The Staff Performance Review Instruction Guide will help you complete the new form.
The most significant change to the Staff Performance Review Form is its incorporation into Human Resource’s required summary form. This revision simplifies procedures by having a single, stand alone document.
Before evaluating employees, supervisors may deem it beneficial to distribute blank copies of this form to their staff so they can familiarize themselves with the changes and the appearance of the new form.
For whom should this new form be used?
The Staff Performance Review Form must be completed each calendar year for all regular staff members. The form should be used for employees who are responsible to E01-11 (CASNR) or E11 (TAES) accounts. This evaluation is not completed for term or student employees. This form is not used for faculty.
Use the form to evaluate all regular staff members regardless of position title, job family, or exemption classification. For example, Post Doctoral Research Associates, Administrative Specialists, Research Technicians, Herd Caretakers, Fieldworkers, and Managers are all evaluated using this single instrument.
