Major Responsibilities

Dr. Klindt provided leadership and guidance to ensure that UT AgResearch was focused on high-priority issues that significantly impact Tennessee's agricultural economy. He developed and monitored the UT AgResearch budget, and coordinated extramural research support activities.

Summary of Experience

After receiving his Ph.D., Dr. Klindt taught agricultural economics at Louisiana State University for three years. He joined the UT Experiment Station in 1974 as an assistant professor of agricultural economics, becoming a full professor in 1981. After serving as Associate Dean of the UTK Graduate School, he was appointed Assistant Dean of the Tennessee Agricultural Experiment Station in 1986, Associate Dean in 1990, and Interim Dean in 2004.

Major Responsibilities

As Assistant Director of AgResearch, Dr. Hodges focused primarily on facility and construction projects at the Research and Education Centers. He had exceptional strength in this area and was ideally suited to provide leadership to these projects, assisting with the development of field days and special events, employee training programs for Center employees, risk management, safety and compliance, and other related activities.

Summary of Experience

A native of Tennessee, Dr. Hodges started work at the East Tennessee Research and Education Center as a full-time employee in 1970 while working on his BS degree. He became Director of the Center in 1975, where he remained until September 2009.

Summary of Experience

After receiving his M.S., Dr. Mote worked as a project engineer for a major petroleum producing company for four years. He returned to graduate school in 1972 and was awarded a Ph.D. in 1974. He then taught and conducted research as a faculty member of the Agricultural Engineering Department at the University of Arkansas for nine years. Dr. Mote joined the Tennessee Agricultural Experiment Station as an associate professor of agricultural engineering in 1983, and was promoted to professor in 1988. He was appointed Head of the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Department July 1, 1995 and served in that capacity through June 30, 1999. He became Assistant Dean of the Tennessee Agricultural Experiment Station July 1, 1999.

Summary of Experience

Dr. Oliver served as professor in the UT Department of Animal Science for 26 years. During this time, he established a nationally and internationally recognized research program on milk quality and dairy food safety. He served as director of the Tennessee Quality Milk Laboratory from 2006 and prior to that was co-director of the UT Food Safety Center of Excellence. He has published widely in peer-reviewed scientific journals and in the popular press. Dr. Oliverís research and outreach accomplishments were recognized by peers at UT, nationally and internationally. Among his awards and recognitions, Dr. Oliver received the 2009 Chancellor's Award for Research and Creative Achievement, the 2004 Gamma Sigma Delta Faculty Team Research Award of Merit for participation involvement with the Cloning Research Team, and the 2001 University of Tennessee/Oak Ridge National Laboratory Science Alliance Research Award. He also received the 1999 Tennessee Agricultural Experiment Station Research Impact Award, and the 1995 UTIA B. Ray Thompson, Sr. Award for Outstanding Faculty Performance.
